My client based in Worcester (WR4) is looking to recruit a Lab Technician on a Temp to Perm basis.
Your role will be to support the Production, Testing, and characterization of metallic alloys, responsible for preparing alloys using in-house metallurgic equipment. As well as operating equipment, you will be asked to create reports on the findings.
The main functions of the role include:
1. Operating microstructural sample preparation and characterization equipment along with chemical analysis and particle size measurements.
2. Maintaining and calibrating sample preparation and characterization equipment.
3. Communicating with engineers to understand their needs.
4. Report writing on metallurgical investigations.
As a suitable candidate, you will offer the following:
1. Strong attention to detail.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. Good IT skills, especially in MS Office.
4. Adaptable and flexible.
5. Ideally qualified in materials science, preferably metallurgy.
6. Previous experience in a similar role.
7. Experience with sample preparation including cutting, polishing, etching, microscopy.
8. Experience of examining metallurgical samples including image analysis.
9. Experience of particle size analysis techniques and chemical analysis techniques.
10. Knowledge of different alloy systems including nickel super alloys, titanium, and aluminum.
11. Knowledge of alloy heat treatment.
12. Knowledge of mechanical testing: creep, tension, hardness, toughness, etc.
This role is 37.5 hours per week with a degree of flexibility for the working hours, and the salary on offer is up to £30,000.
