What You'll Bring:
Managing Autonomic Dysreflexia including:
Blood pressure monitoring and emergency response
Administration of Nifedipine PRN
Respiratory support:
Use of flutter valve, nebuliser, and cough assist machine
Recognising signs of respiratory distress
Bowel management:
Manual evacuation (1–2 times/day)
Management of chronic constipation
Catheter care:
Managing suprapubic catheter blockages
Administering emergency antibiotics if needed
Feeding support:
Supervising meals due to choking risk
Supporting fluid intake (6–7L/day)
Mobility and hoisting:
Use of hoist or banana board for transfers
Frequent repositioning (hourly) to manage pressure risk
Skin care:
Management of Baclofen pump site
Prevention of pressure ulcers with specialist mattress and dressings
Medication management:
Administering pain relief and regular PRN medication
Baclofen pump oversight and patch use
Emergency response to altered consciousness or AD triggers (3–4 times weekly)
Our client mature Male who has a spinal cord injury at C5 level, and require day to day support monitoring.
Carer must have specialist training in:
Spinal cord injury care
Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD) management
Suprapubic catheter care
Bowel management and manual evacuation
Respiratory and airway support
