The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the Legal Ombudsmans EDI strategy and annual action plans. This role ensures the coordination and execution of key EDI activities and events, while managing data analysis and reporting to inform strategic decisions. The EDI Specialist also supports administrative functions and contributes to embedding a culture where equality, diversity, and inclusion are integral to both our workplace and the services we provide. Considerable progress has been made in relation to our EDI agenda. We are now looking for a highly motivated, results-oriented individual who will be able to support the ongoing delivery of our EDI strategy working closely with the EDI Manager. Focusing on supporting projects from our EDI action plan related to our people, customers, process improvements, wellbeing, developing our understanding of EDI data, that are closely aligned to our business plan and People Strategy. Working closely with our networks, HR, Operations and other colleagues, the role will also continue to support our commitment to creating and maintaining a supportive working environment and culture, where contributions are fully recognised and valued by all, and staff feel empowered to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities. You will be someone that has the skills, knowledge and passion for EDI and understands the role that EDI plays for both staff and external stakeholders. This includes legal service providers and all those that come to the Legal Ombudsman with a complaint. You will have proven experience of successfully delivering outcomes against targets/objectives within agreed time scales. You will be able to build effective working relationships with managers, network co-chairs, internal staff networks and HR colleagues. As part of this role, you will n eed to be confident analysing data in Excel, drawing out trends and presenting the results of your analysis in visual and written formats. You will be a confident communicator (both in writing and verbally) and have strong organisational skills to be effective in managing your time to deliver your agreed objectives such as organising and delivering our annual EDI calendar of activities and staff awareness events. Drawing on knowledge of EDI best practice, you will offer creative and innovative ideas to support and progress our EDI agenda. What you will be doing: - Assist in the implementation of the EDI strategy and annual action plans, aligning activities with organisational priorities and objectives. Work closely with the organisations staff networks and staff council to develop and deliver initiatives that enhance diversity and inclusion within the workplace. Lead the coordination and delivery of the organisations annual EDI calendar, including promoting awareness campaigns. Liaising with the communications team to organise the promotion of our annual EDI calendar and key EDI information updates. Administrative support involving organising and coordinating meetings with internal network co-chairs and Executive sponsors. Providing administrative support for EDI initiatives, including managing project documentation and meeting logistics. Contribute to EDI compliance initiatives, accreditations and frameworks ensuring outcomes align with the organisations equality objectives. Conduct annual EDI data analysis of EDI data to identify trends and insights related to staff and customer demographics. Oversee the completion of the annual EDI surveys, preparing clear and impactful PowerPoint presentations or reports to communicate findings to stakeholders. Work with the Knowledge & Learning Business partner to identify suitable interventions to support cultural EDI changes, supporting the coordination of training sessions with external or internal trainers. Provide advice to the Legal Ombudsman, ensuring compliance with equality legislation for colleagues e.g., employment policies and processes and services e.g., customer needs, complaints and service providers. About you: - Some experience of developing and delivering creative EDI initiatives to address people issues and service requirements; with the objective of improving diversity internally and accessibility for a service/scheme. Demonstrable experience in identifying and/or delivering training as required. Experience of working in the public sector. Experience of conducting Equality Impact Assessments and the impact they have on people with protected characteristics. Experience of developing EDI frameworks to support strategy and policy.
