Job Description
A fantastic opportunity is currently available for a Goods Inwards and Stores Inspector to join our team based at Southampton Docks. This position works with several departments within DP World as well as, the stores controller, purchasing, and any businesses delivering the goods to us. We are searching for someone with experience working in a high-volume goods incoming department or store, ideally coming from a background in engineering or logistics. In addition to alerting the appropriate departments to the receipt of their items and reviewing the invoices or good received notes, this function will entail making sure that any goods or services received are examined to ensure they conform with the order specification
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Handling the receipt of goods – including unloading
* Receive goods from suppliers check quality & quantity against requirements
* Identify parts and locate in their correct stock location or quarantine area.
* Inform creator of requisition of the arrival/ receipt of goods.
* Driving a forklift truck when required and other manual labour duties
* Entering receipt details onto the computer database.
* Dispatch / packing of goods for dispatch.
* Some stock taking when required.
* Comply with relevant health, safety, and environment company policies.
* Ensure that a safe & healthy work environment exists by adhering to Company health, safety, and environment policies to achieve full compliance with the relevant legislation within your area of responsibility.
* Accept responsibility for personal development with the scope of my role and encourage the development of others.
* Ensure the integrity, security & cleanliness of stock held in the stores is always maintained in line with company and ISO procedures.
* Control test certification for lifting gear, twist locks, chains, ropes/wires etc, log on system and attach certificate to items.
* Bar code all received major stock items and new parts
Experience & Qualification:
* Previous experience within a busy goods inwards department or stores environment is essential.
* Experience within an engineering or logistics background is essential.
* Experience using Maximo or oracle is desirable.
* Minimum of 5 GCSE’s, including Maths & English (Grade C and Above or equivalent)
* A Forklift licence is desirable..
* Excellent communication and attention to detail skills
* Ability to work well under pressure.
