As Southern Water’s Infrastructure Strategic Delivery Partner for Clean & Wastewater, we will be responsible for the design and build of major infrastructure projects. This extensive programme covers the entire Southern Water Services region, including the Isle of Wight. The clean water infrastructure programme will require upgrading existing assets and installing new assets to reduce leakage and usage across the region. The wastewater programme will support Southern Water Services in protecting and improving the environment for their communities and customers. Ensuring healthy rivers and seas, through growth, enhancement, and sustainability, with a focus on carbon reduction and social value.

Morrison Water Services is recruiting for a Streetworks Coordinator to work on our Southern Water contract in Falmer.
The Role Purpose:
As a Streetworks Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of streetworks activities to ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) 1991 and the Traffic Management Act (TMA) 2004.
You will collaborate closely with local authorities, project teams, subcontractors, and internal departments to maintain project schedules and effectively manage permits. Working alongside the Streetworks Manager and the National Streetworks Manager, you will help develop and implement policies and strategies to achieve industry-leading compliance and performance in Streetworks operations.
Your responsibilities will include the input and full management of all permits submitted to permit authorities. You will oversee the entire permit lifecycle, from initiation to closure, ensuring compliance with all relevant Streetworks legislation. Your role will be critical in maintaining MWS’s compliance and minimising the risk of avoidable Streetworks costs.
Key Duties:
1. Submit all required streetworks permits for projects, including opening and closing notices, within mandated timeframes.
2. Ensure timely submission of R1s for each location.
3. Respond to all highway requests and communications within specified deadlines to ensure compliance and smooth operations.
4. Monitor each permit closely for status changes, modifications, comments, revokes etc, and take necessary actions.
5. Ensure all relevant application forms and consents are complete and populated correctly in a timely manner (Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders, Traffic Light Applications, etc.).
6. Obtain purchase orders (POs) for relevant tasks to ensure timely procurement and compliance.
7. Update and maintain the permit spreadsheet regularly, providing the project team with visibility into current permit statuses.
8. Provide copies of each granted permit to the relevant project team and any additional streetworks-related documentation.
9. Communicate all 2-hour/4-hour SLG notifications to the relevant project team.
10. Gather required documentation, such as photos, from the project team to support any potential disputes between client/ HA.
11. Communicate with local authorities, addressing any requirements they may have.
12. Take proactive action when notices are at risk, liaising with local authorities where appropriate to agree on extensions or alternative measures.
13. Act as a point of contact for escalations.
14. Liaise with the project team to address remedial defects and manage remedial actions.
15. Communicate any additional costs, such as FPNs, defects, and S74s, with the project team and commercial team.
16. Attend regular meetings with the project team to provide updates on any streetworks-related issues.
17. Input all available costs (FPNs, S74s, non compliance) into Salesforce Streetworks Incident Page.
18. Carry out any other responsibilities that may arise in alignment with the role’s scope and organisational goals.

Skills Required: (knowledge/qualifications / experience)
25. Knowledge of NRSWA 1991 & TMA 2004 and associated Codes of Practice.
26. Knowledge of Permit Schemes, Lane Rental and their operation.
27. Working knowledge of Street Manager/Symology or similar systems.
28. Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
29. An effective time management.
30. Deliver a high standard of customer service.
31. Take responsibility and follow existing policies and procedures.
32. Ability to act calmly and rationally in a stressful environment.
33. Flexibility to support the business needs.
34. An enthusiastic team player.
35. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
36. Full UK Driving Licence.
