Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Retail Sales Associate to join our team to cover maternity leave. This position will be a 6-month contract for training, followed by a 12-month contract subject to suitability to cover maternity for a full-time employee working 40 hours per week. There is a possibility to work towards a permanent contract should the role be suitable. In this role, you will be providing exceptional customer service, opening and closing the shop, using the till, stocking shelves, banking, and cashing up. Some manual handling/heavy lifting (collecting paper bundles and lifting cases of drinks) is involved but not a major part of the role.
Responsibilities
* Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products within the store.
* Engage with customers to understand their needs and recommend suitable products.
* Upsell additional items to enhance the customer’s shopping experience.
* Maintain an organised and tidy sales floor, ensuring all merchandise is displayed attractively.
* Process transactions accurately using the till system, including handling cash and card payments.
* Keep track of inventory levels and assist in restocking shelves as necessary.
* Provide product knowledge to customers, answering any queries they may have.
* Obtain key holder status, including opening and closing of the store, cashing up, and banking.
Requirements
* Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred but not essential.
* Strong communication skills.
* Basic Maths skills for handling transactions and managing cash flow; cashing up experience is preferred but training will be given.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* A friendly and approachable demeanour, with a passion for helping others.
* Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
