ScottishPower are recruiting a Solutions Architect to support the delivery of a new telecoms operating model. It's an exciting new role where you'll be involved in this journey from its inception.
Reporting into the Design and Standards Manager, you'll be responsible for capturing and interpreting requirements to design complex solutions that will be scalable. You'll design, assist deployment and operation of SPEN telecom networks, ensuring configurations are templated, modularised, fit for purpose and moving towards BAU.
You'll be a trusted advisor acting as the technical end-to-end go-to, responsible for ensuring technical and project outcomes meet design standards and principles for successful project delivery.
What you'll be doing
* Be part of the Telecoms Design Authority function
* Support the telecoms functionality across the wider SPEN business - refine requirements, provide guidance, subject matter expertise, and assist with strategy resulting in solutions that are deliverable, operational, efficient and scalable
* Support the business for the Telecoms Strategy for Price Controls
* Evaluate and maintain a key relationship with any third-party vendors chosen to augment in-house capability
* Define Telecoms processes and standards
* Take an active part in telecoms contracts lifecycle, define and create technical specifications for telecoms technologies and their operating models
* Create the customer solution, statements of work and High-Level Design
* Provide support to delivery and operations
* Support or drive further development of design methodology, processes, documentation, and standards used
What you'll bring
We're looking for candidates with a degree in electrical, electronic or telecoms engineering or relevant discipline. IP Networking experience supported by any certifications (Cisco CNNA/CCNP) is a plus.
Experience working in CNI or Telecoms in a similar role is preferable.
You'll have technical skills covering SDH/PDH, MPLS IP / MPLS-TP, Microwave / Fibre / Copper / Radio, Call manager, Network Synchronisation, and DC Power.
A sound understanding of best practice in design methodology, Telco business processes and frameworks (eTOM or ITIL) to deliver complex solutions that are cost effective and deliverable to scope.
Good interpersonal skills, able to present, leverage and influence internal stakeholders at senior level. Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, and Visio)
You'll understand and master cyber security best practices contributing to a Telecoms network that is secure by design.
