Job overview
Applications are invited to apply for an innovative post in medicine offering the opportunity to develop experience and training in a variety of areas according to the interests of the successful applicant.
This post would be ideally suited to a candidate who has completed core medical/internal medical training or equivalent and wishes to gain further experience in a medical specialty, education, leadership or quality improvement.
Main duties of the job
The post responsibilities will be split into two parts, acute medical take responsibilities and non-acute take.
Acute take: The postholder will contribute to the 1 in 10 medical registrar on call rota. During on call periods, the postholder will be expected to take a leadership role in the team providing clinical care and management of acute medical admissions.
Non-acute take: The postholder will have the opportunity to work clinically within one or more of the aforementioned medical subspecialties according to their interests and experience, contributing to inpatient and outpatient care. Depending on the preferred subspecialty, there may be opportunity to develop or refine procedural competences in line with Royal College of Physicians curricula for medical subspecialties e.g. bronchoscopy, angiograms, endoscopy etc.
There is also the opportunity to work in a predominantly non-clinical, educational based role or quality improvement role during non-acute take activity. This can be tailored to the applicant’s interests and experience.
