Counsellor
Full time – Belfast, Portadown or Derry/Londonderry
The Probation Board for Northern Ireland (PBNI) is a Non-Departmental Public Body of the Department of Justice which has responsibility for assessing and supervising offenders in custody and in the community. PBNI currently employs around 400 staff in 19 locations across Northern Ireland.
Previously PBNI contracted addictions counselling to the community and voluntary sector but now wish to introduce counsellor roles to enhance the skill base of the organisation and create more flexibility in-house as to the use of this resource.
The service will operate across the whole of NI and will deliver a rapid response to service users who need immediate access into drug and alcohol counselling as a result of assessed need or relapse. The service will also deliver addictions counselling to service users involved with the Substance Misuse Court. Engagement with the substance misuse court typically may last up to 9 months and will involve addictions counselling and relapse prevention work. Provision of a rapid response service will typically last 12 weeks.
