CRH offers a wide range of exciting and rewarding opportunities for people who are passionate about providing exceptional patient care. With more than 350 different careers on offer, there is a job for you no matter what your interests, skills, or qualifications.
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our new Stroke/Critical Care rotation.
You will be supported by the Band 7 OT for Stroke/Critical Care and be working closely with a team of qualified and non-qualified Occupational Therapy colleagues across the pathways. You will also be working closely with other AHP colleagues within Stroke and Critical Care.
The successful candidate will advocate for patients and contribute to the rehabilitation MDT/goal setting. You will continue to work with these patients to formulate a safe discharge plan into the community. You will contribute to the development of critical care rehabilitation services for patients along the pathway.
For the Critical Care rotation, the successful applicant will work alongside a strong multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Rehabilitation Practitioners to provide early rehabilitation of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial assessment and interventions.
Main duties of the job
For the stroke rotation, the successful applicant will work in a dedicated OT team, alongside a supportive MDT, to deliver Occupational Therapy as part of a 7-day service. Predominantly based on a combined Stroke Unit, the team treats patients in the hyper-acute, acute, and rehabilitation stages of their Stroke admission. The team also provides an Early Supported Discharge service which provides outreach therapy services from the Stroke Unit, enabling patients to continue therapy with staff at home following discharge. The team is committed to delivering high standards of care across the whole patient pathway in line with National Clinical Guidelines for Stroke. As well as providing care for Stroke patients, the team also treats patients with other Neurological conditions within the Trust.
We are seeking applications from individuals with a passion for providing rehabilitation for people with Neurological conditions. Time management skills are essential; as well as the ability to be flexible to manage a mixed acute and rehab caseload in a busy setting. Excellent communication skills will be key, as you will be working with patients and their families in stressful and complex situations. The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to team working both within OT and the wider MDT.
We are commissioned to provide a seven-day service, so flexibility to work weekends will be required.
