Job summary
Looking to recruit a confident and enthusiastic Telephonist/Receptionist into the Team at a friendly but extremely busy 6 partner GP Practice who are committed to the care and wellbeing of others and who will enjoy working as a dedicated team.
This is a temporary position with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. Up to 35 hours per week, 5 days a week, morning and afternoon shifts.
The role entails mainly dealing with booking appointments and dealing with patient queries on the telephone and on the front desk.
Main duties of the job
Candidates must have a good general education, excellent telephone manner and excellent customer service skills, be computer literate and flexible to cover annual leave and sickness cover.
They will work along side the Reception Lead to provide support to ensure the smooth day to day running of Reception and undertake other duties as and when required.
About us
We are a GP Practice with a list size of 11,000 circa led by 6 GP partners, one of which specializes in ENT, a salaried GP, 2 regular Locum GPs, Nursing and Pharmacists Team, Reception, Admin and Management.
We are an advanced Training Practice for GP Registrars and also teach medical students in partnership with Birmingham University.
The Practice also provides in house Minor Surgery, Physio (FCP) and GPwSI ENT services.
We are a forward thinking practice and have fought hard to maintain a personal list system which research has proved to be best practice.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure an effective and efficientReception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to thePractice.
Deal with all General enquires, explainprocedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
Using your own judgment andcommunication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but whoneed urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
Explain Practice arrangements andformal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover andensure procedures are completed.
Receive and make telephone calls asrequired. Divert calls and take messages via Day Book, ensuring accuracy ofdetail and prompt appropriate delivery.
Enter requests for home visits into thevisit book, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and wherenecessary refer to Duty Doctor.
Give out results to patients after theDoctor has actioned.
Handling post.
Advise patients of relevant charges forprivate (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issuereceipts for same.
Enter patient information on to thecomputer as required.
Retrieve and re-file records asrequired, ensuring strict alphabetical order is adhered to.
Ensure reception and the waiting areas are kept tidy.

1. A basic standard of education to secondary school level.
2. Knowledge of confidentiality and its application.

3. A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent.
4. Involvement in activities which involve teamwork and social interaction with people.
