Scottish Water provides an essential service to local communities across Scotland – providing a reliable supply of fresh water to homes and businesses, and protecting our environment by treating and managing waste water.
We’re looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Engineering and Maintenance team to help us keep our operational sites running smoothly.
What you’ll do
1. Work as part of a team to install, maintain and repair the assets that power our water, waste water and distribution networks.
2. Utilize core mechanical craft skills and electrical knowledge to resolve technical issues.
3. Assemble and disassemble equipment to component level, including pumps (progressive cavity, diaphragm, centrifugal), valves (gate, non-return, air, butterfly), gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and various types of pipework.
4. Perform basic electrical tasks such as connections/disconnections of motors, fuse replacement, and trip resetting.
5. Conduct risk assessments and follow safe working practices to ensure safety.
6. Coordinate with the Workflow team to plan and allocate resources effectively.
What you’ll bring
1. Recognized Mechanical apprenticeship and qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering.
2. Full UK driving license due to some sites being in remote areas.
3. Willingness to participate in occasional Out of Hours working and standby rota for emergencies.
4. Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with others.
Looking out for you
