Your role in elevating the East Midlands As Investment Zone Programme Officer, y ou will play a key role in delivering The East Midlands Investment Zone (EMIZ), one of the early economic development programmes to be delivered by the new authority. The EMIZ is a part of a UK-wide initiative of central and local government collaboration with businesses and local partners to create conditions conducive to investment and innovation. These zones are strategically located in areas with existing local strengths and significant untapped potential, aiming to unlock opportunities for business and address barriers to private sector growth. The EMIZ is expected to create more high-quality jobs across the region. Our focus is on the advanced manufacturing and green industries sectors. The programme is locally led by the EMCCA, with strong collaboration between industry and research institutions, connecting businesses with the local community. It has levers to attract investment including tax reliefs and other incentives. The zone is expected to receive a government investment of £160 million over ten years, which could leverage at least £383 million in private investment. Key responsibilities include: Planning, delivering and supporting the EMIZ Programme Lead in various aspects of the programme, including the development of the monitoring framework and presentation of data and outcomes to the relevant committees/boards. Keeping key stakeholders informed on the programme management of EMIZ, keeping action and risk registers up to date to ensure the work of the programme is delivered to time. Working with EMCCA colleagues to ensure other business areas are involved in decision making and strategy for EMIZ investment (e.g. skills, business, and infrastructure). Supporting and facilitating on the delivery of future years funding working alongside governance, legal and procurement functions to ensure appropriate checks are made for investments. Working alongside EMCCA finance to prepare and deliver grant/finance agreements with projects and ensure spend is monitored and accounted for. Assist in relevant procurement commissioning for EMIZ including the preparation of bidding documents and the review of tender documentation. Supporting the EMIZ Programme Lead in reviewing the development of the Strategy and Delivery plan documents for the longer-term future of the Investment Zone. Your profile: NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience, with a successful track record of working on economic development (or similar) programmes or initiatives, ensuring proper governance and the appropriate use of public funds. Experience of organising and delivering multi-faceted projects, in a formal or informal project management capacity. Able to assist with stakeholder engagement and management with partners from Public, Private and Education institutions. Being agile to changing demands within the programme of work and evidence to demonstrate this. A high level of personal drive and integrity, being positive, flexible, versatile, and resilient remaining outcome focussed to achieve success. A desire to drive innovation and share knowledge and information to contribute to team successes and achievements.
