The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and organised Legal Assistant to join our Environment Team to provide high quality support to a team of lawyers.
You will provide support on a range of legal matters relating to prosecutions, licensing, highways, and housing. Responsibilities include preparation and maintenance of court bundles, filing and serving documents, identifying and booking counsel, requesting evidence, timetabling, drafting, minute taking of legal meetings, attending court and meetings when required to provide administrative support.
You will be used to working accurately and to deadlines. Legal Assistants will be strong team players with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Lawyers will be available to support you with regards to your role. The team is supportive and friendly and will encourage your personal and professional development by regular supervisions, support, and training.
About You
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in legal assistant duties. You will have the ability to work to deadlines, be highly organised, and enjoy working as part of a team. Excellent communication skills will be required, as well as the ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities. You will have the ability and confidence to work independently whilst knowing when to ask for support or guidance.
Whilst previous local authority experience would be advantageous, we encourage applications from candidates who have private practice experience/experience in other areas of law within the same or similar roles or who have experience in other in-house roles where you possess the desired transferrable skills.
