Children's Residential Homes - Marchburn/Kingfield/ Gilbert Road
Duration: Permanent. full Time
Job Purpose:
To deliver a statutory social work service to promote and protect the welfare of
vulnerable service users, their families and carers in need of care and/or protection.
Creating an environment where each service user is enabled to maximise their
potential and to contribute to the service users’ social, physical and mental wellbeing
and promote active citizenship in a holistic way.
Working within our children’s residential provision, the post holder will contribute to
the provision of a recovery based ethos of care which allows young people to feel
safe and protected .As part of a skilled team support young people whose earlier
experiences of adversity has impacted on their development.
Requirements
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
CQSW/Diploma in Social Work
SVQ Level 9 Residential Care or willingness to work towards in accordance with SSSC registration requirements
SSSC Registration or equivalent
Protection of Vulnerable Group Check (PVG)
Responsibilities
The post holder is expected to demonstrate:
Sound and current knowledge of theory and practice relevant to children and families
Ability to work effectively within a team and with a wide range of professionals to improve outcomes for children and young people
Ability to assess and manage risk
The ability to assess and communicate effectively with children and young people
Interviewing and investigation skills
Ability to support others to develop independent living skills including budgeting, wellbeing and education/learning and employability
Ability to manage constant and often conflicting demands
Ability to make decisions and take responsibility for own practice, seeking advice and support as necessary
