As a senior manager working at directorate level with considerable freedom to act, the post holder will play a key role in supporting the Public Health Directorate in the development and implementation of key objectives to deliver the highest standards of patient care and service delivery.
The post holder will assist the Executive Director of Public Health and the Senior Management Team, with dedicated project and directorate resources contributing to the Local Public Health Team project delivery. The post holder is expected to transfer skills for quality improvement in order to grow and embed improvement and project management capabilities within the directorate and to champion their role across the UHB. In addition, the post holder will have specific directorate responsibilities, often working within tight timescales and competing demands. This work will often involve working with highly complex, sensitive and contentious information with a high degree of autonomy.
The job holder will provide leadership and actively promote the activities and standards of the Public Health service, as well as acting as an expert on all business matters of services within the directorate.
Main duties of the job
Lead the design, development and delivery of a number of large, complex, process and service changes across the Public Health pathway in collaboration with service leads and service users. The change programmes may completely redesign how the directorate provides a whole end to end service for patients or may be fundamentally changing the way we do things, requiring policy change.
Contribution to providing innovative solutions and developmental interventions to ensure top performance and delivery of directorate vision. To achieve this, the post holder will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with the Service Leads, Heads of Service and other senior leaders to continuously improve performance.
Define the future measures and aims for service delivery, ensuring consistency with our operating model and local objectives and with national best practice for Health Service development.
Support the Executive Director of Public Health by providing the necessary infrastructure, systems and skills required to meet the long-term performance requirements for the delivery of identified key programmes and projects.
Liaise with finance team at directorate level to support financial management.
Engage with all stakeholders to determine key objectives and processes. Lead projects ensuring that all deliverables are met, for example within digital workstreams.
