Role Overview:
The Second Line of Defense (2LoD) Testing Utility (STU), aligned to Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) and Independent Risk Management (IRM), is responsible for assessing and testing Key Controls, designed and executed by 2LOD teams. This job posting is specific to ICRM coverage.
This position reports to the Controls Control Assessment Team Leader within the ICRM Controls Risk Assessment and Control Design (RACD) team. It involves designing assessments of Key Controls, monitoring, testing, reporting results, and sharing insights. Coverage may vary across ICRM areas such as Banking, Financial Crimes, Compliance, or others, to meet internal and external deliverables.
The ICRM Controls – Control Assessment Officer will be part of a team of approximately 5-7 assessment professionals responsible for executing these tasks. They are accountable for assessment results and advice on control design and remediation, requiring strong knowledge of control design and assurance trends.
Effective communication and diplomacy skills are essential for guiding, influencing, and providing feedback to control owners and engaging with senior managers at the Director and SVP levels.
What you'll do:
1. Execute control design assessments, monitoring, and testing in line with standards and procedures.
2. Handle exceptions communicated by control testers, reviewing outcomes with control owners.
3. Develop and deliver training on controls and related processes to assessment teams.
4. Drive continuous improvements in assessment accuracy, efficiency, and quality.
5. Manage your workload and prioritize deliverables.
6. Support training of assessment officers, including cross-training across teams.
7. Maintain relationships and drive accountability with partners and stakeholders.
8. Support other team initiatives as needed.
What we'll need from you:
1. Several years of relevant experience in control assessment (First, Second, or Third Line) with expertise in one of the coverage areas.
2. Advanced knowledge of control design and assessment.
3. Experience in a compliance role at a global bank or financial institution preferred.
4. Understanding of Citi’s MCA or similar risk/self-assessment programs.
5. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
6. Strong communication and presentation skills.
7. People management and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence.
8. Ability to work independently and effectively in virtual, cross-geography teams.
Education:
University degree preferred.
