Senior Planner or Planning Manager
Location: Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm (37.5 hours per week, 30-minute lunch break)
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a busy Planning department, with two new positions available for Senior Planners or Planning Managers. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for managing the planning process from site inception through to securing planning permissions and beyond. You will work on projects ranging from 30 to 200 units, as well as supporting land promotion initiatives.
This role is ideal for candidates with at least five years of post-graduate experience in either planning consultancy, local authority, or residential development. You will report to the Land and Planning Director and work closely with a dedicated planning team.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing and submitting planning applications, conditions, and appeal documentation.
Managing the planning application process with Local Planning Authorities.
Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
Representing the company at Planning Committee Meetings and Public Consultation Meetings.
Monitoring and reviewing local planning policies and strategies.
Conducting research to support planning applications and land promotion initiatives.
Coordinating external consultants and negotiating contracts.
Keeping accurate records of planning policies and local plan reviews.
Liaising with internal planning teams and other departments to facilitate operational development.
What They Are Looking For
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Degree in urban planning, geography, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in planning (either consultancy, local authority, or residential development).
Experience presenting to the public, council officers, and committee members.
Strong understanding of planning processes, policies, and regulations.
Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
