Arup’s Innovation Advisory business is part of Advisory Services in the North-West & Yorkshire.
Our Innovation Advisory team provide strategic and advice and innovation leadership services to clients in the energy, water and transport sectors in the UK and internationally. Our work helps our clients:
1. plan and design their innovation strategies and visions
2. propose and embed delivery models for innovation
3. lead innovation programmes and initiatives
4. develop insights and learning from their innovation activities
We work alongside other disciplines to complete studies, interventions and strategies for our clients centred on Innovation, R&D and organisational improvement.
The role
The role will involve developing and building Arup’s innovation advisory capability and team by:
1. Developing and managing client relationships with existing client organisations and internally across Arup to communicate the capability and value Arup can bring in supporting / delivering innovation programmes
2. Developing opportunities and leading the delivery of bids / proposals supporting the ongoing growth of the business
3. Taking responsibility for a team, supporting their personal development, providing coaching, addressing performance issues, and undertaking annual appraisals. Recruitment of appropriate individuals to build corporate capacity and capability.
4. Strengthening our innovation capability by growing the team and developing their technical skills
5. Undertaking the role of Project Director on projects, ensuring we deliver agreed outcomes to the quality expected of Arup within agreed commercial parameters
Person Specification – technical/experience
* Ability and confidence to advise Arup’s clients on innovation delivery strategy, leadership and engagement, vision and outcomes, business case development, establishing governance, developing the delivery model, embedding sustainability and resilience, stakeholder management, and engagement.
* A working knowledge of good practice innovation management models including ISO56000.
* Proven capability in successful innovation programme and project delivery. Particularly, we are seeking practical, hands-on experience of driving innovation programmes and embedding innovative solutions in infrastructure organisations.
* Proven capability to easily “tune in” to the client organisations we are working with – their values and their character. Being comfortable with working as part of their team, but able to bring in the new expertise and thinking that is required.
* Experience of knowledge transfer and capacity building with client teams, supporting their learning and capability building as a key outcome.
* Experience driving innovation and continuous improvement through complex portfolios and programmes.
* Experience of successful delivery of complex and challenging projects i.e. delivering to time, cost, quality, and sustainable outcomes.
* Proven track record in building long lasting client relationships, developing targeted propositions and winning work for a team of innovation advisory specialists.
* Experiencing of sustaining and growing team capability and capacity.
This role allows flexible working hours and working from home, with the ability to be based in our NWY offices at least three days per week. Travel to and from client sites /or temporary assignments to client’s offices may also be required.
