About us
The RAF (Royal Air Forces) Association has a clear objective: to help sustain a resilient and empowered RAF community, including serving personnel, RAF veterans and their families. Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations. We work closely with partner organisations, including other military charities, and have a strong bond with our donors and supporters, giving us the confidence to deliver for our beneficiaries when they need us. We work together to make sure no one is ever left behind.
About the role
Rothbury House is a beautiful Victorian building situated at the west end of Rothbury, overlooking the Coquet Valley in Northumberland. We provide 26 high quality retirement apartments for RAF veterans and their spouses. With an estimated 40% of veterans living alone, we know that isolation and loneliness is a huge problem. Rothbury House offers an opportunity for our tenants to relive the camaraderie of their time in the RAF as well as supporting and promoting their independent living.
Our Scheme Assistants will respond to a wide range of enquiries from our tenants and visitors in a warm, cheerful and courteous manner. The team work together to ensure that we provide the highest level of cleanliness and a welcoming environment for everyone who uses our facilities. This will involve a comprehensive cleaning service throughout all communal areas of the establishment along with assisting the catering team in providing a before and after dinner service i.e., assisting with serving, setting and clearing of tables and contributing to and taking part in social events for our tenants. About you
Our ideal colleagues will understand the needs of elderly people who wish to retain their independent lifestyle. An understanding of Safeguarding is essential however we provide ongoing training. If you are self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude, able to work independently yet still support the overall team, then this could be a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a role where you will see the benefits of your contribution to everyone at Rothbury House. A moderate level of fitness is required as there will be some lifting and carrying of cleaning equipment.
