Job Summary
We are seeking to recruit a number of Band 6 Nurses to join our Nurse in Charge Team in Walsall Healthcare's Emergency Department. Opportunities are available for those with extensive experience in the Emergency Department setting and who are willing to expand their portfolio.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 2 years Emergency Department experience or those with Acute Hospital or Urgent Care experience.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Senior ED Nursing Team to support progression through your Nursing career in Emergency Care. The applicant will use their clinical skills, knowledge, and judgement daily to lead a workforce across the Emergency Department to provide safe, responsive, and effective care to patients.

Main Duties of the Job
The Nursing Team at Walsall's Emergency Department has recently seen investment that supports an expanded workforce across all nursing roles and a 6% increase in training and education time for all nursing colleagues within ED. Candidates applying for this role will benefit from this investment as education, skills, and knowledge are expanded across the Nursing Workforce in ED.
Applicants will join the Emergency Department as the new Education Framework commences. New posts are being invested in, with the Practice Development roles also expanding to support the delivery of our education programme for both new and substantive staff.

Walsall Emergency Department is regularly among the top 5 Trusts regionally for Ambulance Handover Standards and Triage Times, and has recently been recognized in the top 15 NHS Trusts nationally for the 4 Hour Emergency Access Standard.
Candidates will join the Emergency Department at an exciting time as the service commits to improving these standards of quality care through investment in people and patients across the Care Group. We are committed to providing high-quality care within a demanding service by ensuring our nursing team is proactive and possesses additional clinical skills to provide individualized patient care for the range of presenting conditions.

Our Department has access to various learning environments, including courses to enhance clinical skills and knowledge, such as ILS/PILS/TILS/ALS/EPLS/TNCC, as well as in-house opportunities. We can offer post-registration courses via Wolverhampton University in Emergency care of the child and mentorship.
We positively encourage department link nurses and are developing a wide range of departmental champions to promote specialist support within the team. We aim to recruit new Nurses who are eager to work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to aid audits and service developments. In a leadership role, you will be responsible for a team of Nurses to ensure they are up to date with appraisal, training, and management support in ED.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* First Level RN
* ENB 998/Mentorship qualification or equivalent
* ENB 199/Post registration qualification in foundations Emergency Nurse practitioner/equivalent degree in acute/critical care nursing/level 3 or 4 study appropriate to Emergency Care and evidence of good professional development/study since qualification
* ALS or EPLS or TNCC
Experience (Essential)
* A good understanding of nursing and related emergency care of patients within A/E
* Significant post-registration experience and experience of working within an Emergency department or similar environment regularly supporting/managing junior colleagues
* Evidence of a high level of clinical skills to support care delivery in ED
Skills and Knowledge (Essential)
* High level of nursing skills including phlebotomy skills/IVI drug administration/Suturing/Pop application
* ECG interpretation skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work with IM & T systems
* An ability to organize workload of a specific area of Emergency Department including patient flows in and out.
