Applications are invited from suitable candidates to join our team as a Mortuary Support Officer within the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology partnership. The successful applicant will be based at the Mortuary at Northern General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with cross-site working at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidates must be educated to GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths Grade C/4 or above, have a Level 3 qualification e.g. NVQ, 2 A-Levels, Apprenticeship, or equivalent working experience in mortuary or funeral directors. They must have excellent written and verbal communication and be able to work under their own initiative as well as part of a team.
Experience of working in a mortuary setting, handling the deceased, and having knowledge of regulatory frameworks is preferred. They will be committed to undertaking all on-the-job training, including being trained in the safe removal of hazardous implants.
Main duties of the job
* To provide a comprehensive administrative service for the Mortuary.
* To act as Mortuary Receptionist.
* To assist with the booking in and release processes both administratively and practically.
* To assist with supporting tasks for the Bone Bank service.
* To assist with the cleaning and general housekeeping duties within the Mortuary.
* To assist Mortuary staff with viewing/identification requests.

The South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Histopathology department provides a complete analytical and diagnostic Histopathology service across the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw region. Mortuary services lie within the histopathology specialty and provide comprehensive care to patients who pass away within the hospital and/or community setting.

Qualifications

Experience

Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 a year pro rata for part-time staff.
