Applications are invited for the post of LOCUM Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to cover for parental leave.
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a flexible approach to provide an efficient service for patients, women who attend the Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments in Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside District Hospital.
Applicants must be a holder of MRCOG, be eligible for the GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within six months of the time of interview.
Work on a 1:15 rota covering both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Cover sessions including medium risk ANC, GOPD, Caesarean section lists, Day case Theatre.
Labour ward is covered with a hot week rotation when the same consultant covers Monday to Friday 8:30-18:00 every day. Weekends are split Friday/Sunday and Saturday.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must also have excellent organizational and communication skills, be a good team worker, and have experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates. Direct involvement in delivery of NIHR portfolio clinical research trials is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop other special interests based on service requirements.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as a team member to deliver the service contract and to contribute towards strategic planning and development within the Directorate. The Directorate has a proud record of delivering the contract within budget and aims to maintain this position. * Full GMC registration
* MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
* Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
* ATSM advanced Labour ward or equivalent experience

Experience

* Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT, including ability to provide delivery suite cover and intrapartum care.
* Ability to offer expert opinion on a wide range of emergency/routine cases in obstetrics and gynaecology.
* Interest in Clinical Governance and Risk Management.
* Understanding of the NHS, Clinical Governance process and resource issues.
* Evidence of organisational, administrative, management and time management skills.
* Previous record of organisational achievement.
* IT literacy skills.
* Experience of supervising junior medical staff.
* Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Evidence of commitment to teaching.
Desirable
* Experience in delivering training and education in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
