Job Description Children, Education and Justice Services Workshop Technician - fixed term until 26/06/2025 Liberton High School Salary: £28,046 - £32,101 (pro-rata for part time and sessional Hours: 23 per week, 39 weeks sessional Liberton High School is a non-denominational secondary school with roll of approximately 900 pupils, working in partnership with our associated primaries of Craigour Park, Gilmerton, Liberton and Prestonfield to serve our local community in South East Edinburgh. We have a rising roll which is projected to peak at approximately 1100 within the next four years. We are excited to be moving into a new, purpose-built Community Campus, which is due to be completed in February 2026. The leadership team comprises of the Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers, and a Business Manager. We have a complement of 65 teaching staff and 26 support staff We are a successful school, which is evident in our attainment journey over the past 5 years. We are currently recruiting a Workshop Technician to support our Craft, Designand Technology (CDT) Teachers in the preparation of materials and teaching projects across our year groups, which will include the ordering of materials and monitoring the department budget. It is preferred that the candidate has a workshop based background and is experienced with preparing materials to size. The candidate should have strong organisational skills and be proactive in working with the department to solve issues. The successful candidate will be able to use their skills, knowledge and experience to manage the storage, preparation and disposal of materials necessary for the delivery of a wide range of pupil projects as required within the full range of teaching delivered by the faculty. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
