Taylor Hopkinson is currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer to join a U.K Onshore wind developer.
Position
The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing onshore wind projects and exciting new opportunities.
This role will focus on an impressive array of onshore wind projects. There will also be the opportunity to work with other technologies including BESS and solar.
Job Role
* Manage the procurement and oversight of civil, ground, and access engineering consultants and contractors.
* Provide expert guidance on civil engineering challenges, ensuring constructability is a key consideration in decision-making.
* Oversee the coordination of design interfaces between civil, electrical, and wind turbine contracts.
* Conduct site visits, inspect works, and address technical queries as needed.
* Ensure civil design aligns with CDM regulations throughout the design and construction phases.
* Support project development by preparing for FID and procurement activities.
* Develop Employer’s Requirements/Works Information for civil engineering works.
* Identify the need for external technical expertise, manage procurement processes, draft scopes of work, and assess technical proposals.
* Contribute technical insights on civil engineering matters in board and senior management discussions.
* Review reports, designs, and proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
* Oversee consultants to secure viable transport routes for major components.
* Enhance project documentation, tools, and processes to support portfolio development.
Desired Skills & Experience
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including contractors, external parties, senior leadership, and project teams.
* Strong ability to identify and mitigate project risks, collaborating with all involved parties to develop practical and efficient solutions.
* Hands-on experience with NEC4 and FIDIC contracts, applying them throughout project development and execution.
* A proactive and self-motivated approach, capable of working independently with remote teams and external partners while maintaining a professional and solutions-focused mindset.
* Willingness to take full ownership of challenges, diving into complex issues to drive resolutions that benefit the project.
* Solid understanding of commercial design software and digital tools used in civil engineering and project management.
* Full Right to work in the UK.
Experience & Qualifications
* Degree-qualified Chartered Engineer with strong technical expertise and a passion for advancing the renewable energy sector to support a low-carbon future.
* Experience across all phases of the project lifecycle, ideally within the energy sector, though backgrounds in other major infrastructure industries are also valued.
* Proven ability to manage consultants and contractors on high-value projects while effectively handling internal and external stakeholder relationships on behalf of a client organization.
* High level of technical competency in the design of civil and structural elements, complemented by hands-on experience in construction and commissioning.
