Our Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeships
Our apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a college, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeships have a typical duration of two to three years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you'll continue to progress with Arup once you've completed your course.
The Opportunity
Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship opportunities are available in Belfast in the following areas:
1. Civil Engineering:
You will help a team including engineers and other professionals to assess, design and supervise civil engineering works. You'll work on a wide range of projects - from roads and pavements to car parks, drainage, and earthworks, flood defence, dams & reservoirs and water treatment works. Projects and designs will come in all shapes and sizes, and could involve highways, bridges, and rail schemes. You could also get involved in the computer modelling and drawing of access roads, civil structures, bridges and utility infrastructure.
Furthermore, you will help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. As part of your apprenticeship, you'll study towards a Level 3 qualification in Civil Engineering with one of our local partner colleges.
2. Geotechnics:
This is an opportunity to work alongside civil engineers in our ground engineering team. As well as traditional civil engineering projects in the transport, water and built environment sectors, you will be given the opportunity to work on geothermal energy projects, where we are recognised industry experts advising both government and private sector clients on how to develop and enable this green energy source.
Whether at the outset of your career or approaching Chartership, in Arup you will gain a structured training pathway with a focus on both your professional and technical development. Through working alongside established professionals within Arup on a day to day basis and gaining experience dealing with external clients and contractors you will be given the opportunity to take more ownership of your own work as your skills and experience develop.
Minimum Requirements:
We are looking for candidates with five or more GCSEs at grade C/4/5 or above including Maths (Grade B/5/6 or above), English and Science or their equivalent.
Is this role right for you?
We're looking for apprentices who are curious and ready to evolve how they think and work. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. If you can share your knowledge and ideas and encourage others to do the same; whilst having a desire to deliver excellent services for clients – we'd like to hear from you.
You should be able to start this opportunity no later than September 2025.
Eligibility for apprenticeship funding requires candidates to have the right to work in the UK and continuous residency in the UK since at least September 2022. Candidates holding a visa must ensure it remains valid for the full duration of the apprenticeship, which may extend up to 5 years.
We may close the role earlier than the advertised date should we receive a large number of applications, so please ensure you apply early.
