1. Job Purpose:
To assist as part of the care staff team in providing care and social and recreational activities to enable residents to lead as full a life as possible.
2. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To help residents with personal care tasks or activities as instructed (e.g. assistance with toileting, bathing, personal care and hygiene, washing, mouth care, dressing/undressing, laundry selecting appropriate clothes, eating, drinking communicating, skin/pressure care, incontinence, sensory losses, mobility, exercises, chiropody, hair care, activities and stimulation, general comfort and security) – all as instructed by the Senior Nursing Staff on duty and to make records of care provided as instructed.
2. To assist residents with impaired mobility and/or confusion and memory loss, both within the Nursing Home and by taking them out or escorting them to appointments (e.g. at hospital, clinics, opticians etc.) and for social excursions and activities, including attending religious, social or cultural events and activities.
3. To assist doctors, social workers and other health and social care workers as required in attending to resident’s care needs.
4. To work individually or with other care, domestic and catering staff as instructed, in providing care and assistance to meet resident’s needs, including helping residents and their relatives and visitors to make or have snacks or drinks and clearing used crockery and cutlery and washing up afterwards.
5. To report any changes noted in the behavior, health care or social care needs of residents to the Senior Nursing Staff on duty.
6. To assist as instructed with the preparation of care plans and records and the implementation of the action plans to meet agreed targets for each resident.
7. To carry out tasks for residents who are unable to do them for themselves (e.g. shopping for personal items).
8. To clean and look after all equipment as instructed and to report any defects in equipment, furniture, fittings and furnishings to the Senior Care Staff or the Manager.
9. To maintain clean and tidy working and living conditions in the Home during the course of your work, including making beds, cleaning duties and washing down paintwork, laundry and ironing of clothes and bedding as required.
3. Staff Development, Training and Supervision:
1. To receive regular supervision from the Matron or Senior Nursing Staff designated.
2. To participate in a review of personal development and training needs, at least once a year, and to attend appropriate training courses as required by the Matron or the Proprietor.

Pay: £11.50-£11.60 per hour
