Health, Safety & Environmental (SHE) Manager
Location: Chilton, South Durham, with occasional travel/support to sister site in Derby

We’re looking for a proactive and professional SHE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental excellence across our operations. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you’ll be a hands-on leader in ensuring legal compliance, reducing environmental impact, and promoting a positive health and safety culture at every level of the organisation.
What you’ll do to make a difference:
* Champion a proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental practices across the site.
* Ensure the business complies with all HSE legislation and maintain top safety standards.
* Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents—then lead the charge on improvements.
* Oversee safety training programs, audits, and risk assessments.
* Drive our environmental initiatives, including carbon footprint reduction and waste management.
* Work closely with all departments to promote a safety-first culture.
* Support the team at our sister site in Derby as needed.
What we are looking for from you:
* A charismatic personality with the ability to influence a variety of key stakeholders in the business.
* A NEBOSH/IOSH certificate or Diploma.
* Significant experience in a similar SHE Management or Officer role.
* A strategic mindset with the ability to drive HSE programs & policies.
* Strong communication skills + experience working with local authorities (HSE).
* Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001, and a strong understanding of safety legislation.
* Experience of leading internal audits & facilitating external audits.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities.
* Outstanding attention to detail and observant skills.
* Experience of carrying out in depth incident/accident investigations.
* Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Be self motivating and able to work under minimum supervision when required.
* Well organised, good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
* A background in sheet metal or fabrication would be advantageous.
