This full-time role involves supporting students who have Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in place, ensuring they receive the right support to thrive both academically and emotionally. The School: The school caters to children with diverse SEN requirements, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The students may face challenges that impact their ability to engage fully in learning, and some may exhibit challenging behaviour as they process their emotions. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs. Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage confidence, engagement, and progress. Use knowledge of psychology to support students’ emotional wellbeing and help regulate challenging behaviours. Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individualized strategies and interventions. Support students in accessing the curriculum and reaching their full potential. Create a nurturing, patient, and resilient environment to help students feel comfortable and secure. Assist with behaviour management, providing guidance and support to help students process their emotions positively. Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning space. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A degree in Psychology (or related discipline). A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people. An understanding of SEN and SEMH needs, and how they can impact a child’s learning and emotional development. Patience, resilience, and excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively. Experience working with children or young people in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
