Long-Term Teachers are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, qualified teacher, who has experience supporting students with special educational needs. This position is maternity cover, commencing in term 2 until the end of the academic year.
The school caters for pupils with complex or severe learning needs and all pupils have an Education, Health & Care Plan. They offer an exciting and profoundly personalised curriculum. One of these positions involves supporting students with their catering curriculum provision, so an interest or experience in this area would be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
* Create a child-centred purposeful learning environment to stimulate, motivate and fulfil pupil potential in a safe learning environment.
* Work with children of all ages with a wide range of additional complex needs, including medical needs.
* Teach the National Curriculum as agreed with SLT and participate in short, medium and long-term planning, preparing materials and attending meetings as required.
* Co-ordinate and personalise the National Curriculum for pupils in their designated class and assist with the development and implementation across the school.
* Establish a rapport with pupils to develop their social, emotional, physical and intellectual potential and be a main source of reference for any issues arising related to their wellbeing and development.
* Manage pupil behaviour and support pupils during learning activities, acting as a role model.
* Plan and prepare lessons effectively to ensure they meet the needs of the children within the class.
About You:
* Must have qualified teacher status (QTS).
* Experience planning and delivering lessons to students with SEN.
* Strong knowledge of specialist education.
* Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
* Be a role model for students and peers to look up to.
* Demonstrate flexibility, positivity, calmness, patience, and empathy.
