Job Overview
The British Council enjoys a strong reputation in Egypt as the leading provider of English language courses. Egypt plays a major role in the British Council’s English Language Teaching (ELT) work across the whole Arabic-speaking region. There are excellent opportunities for further development in various directions. The centres run CELTA, distance DELTA, TYLEC, and various management and general training courses. Financial support is available on most courses for suitable candidates. For more experienced teachers there is a supported environment to enter into teacher training opportunities. A mix of adult and young learner courses are taught in all the branches. All full-time teachers are expected to teach both adults and young learners as part of their teaching hours which may require them to teach over the weekend and on Saturday evening
Role Purpose:
1. To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
2. To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience
Main Accountabilities:
3. Plan, prepare, and deliver 25 hours of English teaching tailored to diverse customer groups and learning styles.
4. Monitor student progress and provide ongoing feedback to support learner autonomy.
5. Collaborate with the teaching team to develop, evaluate, and enhance English courses and materials.
6. Engage in continuous professional development to uphold high teaching standards and promote best ELT practices for the British Council.
7. Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas: Child Protection Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Anti-bribery Information management Health and safety

8. Bachelor's degree (in any discipline)
9. Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL
Work Experience

10. 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL experience
11. Experience in teaching relevant age groups: Adults General English (800+ hours) Young adults aged 5-17 (400+ hours)
Right to Work in the country (residing outside of Egypt)
12. Relocation support is available for non-Egyptian candidates.

14. Applicants require a passport valid for six months
Salary & Benefits: non-Egyptian (international mobility contract)
15. Gross Local salary: 14,923 EGP per month
16. Net Sterling supplement: GBP 315 per month
17. Gross Housing allowance - We assist with the cost of finding rented accommodation: Unaccompanied – 5,300 EGP Accompanied (1 dependent) – 7,300 EGP. Accompanied (2 or more dependents) – 10,000 EGP.

19. As per applicable laws, the British Council will deduct contributions from your EGP monthly salary at rates determined by the National Social Insurance Authority.
20. Annual leave allowance : 35 days per year of paid leave, plus minimum 14 public holidays
21. Medical Insurance: You and your family will be covered with the Council’s Group Medical Insurance offering comprehensive coverage.
22. Contract duration: 2 years
23. Renewable period: 1 year
24. Contracted working hours: 37.5 per week.
