Key Account Manager Opportunity with a Leading Biopharmaceutical Company – Rare Diseases

I am partnering with a leading biopharmaceutical company that is expanding its Key Account Management team within the rare diseases space. Following a successful product launch, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with a highly motivated and driven Key Account Manager to support continued market growth.
Location: North of London, East of England – Ideal candidates based around Cambridge, Nottingham, or nearby key call points.
Job Function:
* Sales & Business Development – Drive product adoption and revenue growth in the rare disease space.
* Market Access – Identify and overcome prescribing barriers, work with referral networks, and ensure market penetration.
* Key Account Management – Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including KOLs, healthcare providers, and prescribing accounts.
* Stakeholder Engagement & Networking – Collaborate closely with MSLs, brand managers, and cross-functional teams to drive strategic growth.
* Therapeutic Area: Rare liver disease portfolio
About the Role:
This position is focused on driving engagement with key healthcare providers and stakeholders to ensure optimal patient access to innovative rare disease treatments. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and enhance product adoption within key accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute strategic account plans to expand product adoption.
* Work closely with referral networks and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to drive market access.
* Engage with prescribing accounts to increase uptake and ensure successful positioning.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including MSLs, brand managers, and market access professionals.
* Identify barriers to prescribing and implement solutions to improve access.
* Represent the company at industry events and conferences to build relationships and stay ahead of market trends.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in Key Account Management within specialty care or rare diseases.
* Strong background in market access and sales, particularly in a launch setting.
* Experience in high-cost specialist areas such as hepatology, gastroenterology, autoimmune, biologics, renal, or oncology.
* Ability to build and maintain KOL relationships and referral networks.
* Entrepreneurial mindset – competitive, driven, and capable of working autonomously.
* Strong business acumen with a patient-centric approach.
* Experience in launching a new medicine and getting it to market
