An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed, competent and passionate Clinical Lead to join the Mid Mersey Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, covering the boroughs of Halton, Warrington, Knowsley & St Helens.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the delivery of quality care.
2. Build/maintain the positive reputation of the team/service.
3. Work alongside staff to support, feedback and develop their clinical skills and experience.
4. Provide Clinical Leadership and direction working towards continually developing the service and improving standards.
5. Work to NMC and CQC guidelines and regulations.
6. Support the training and development of the staff.
7. Maintain accurate records.
8. Complete quality audits within the team.
9. Demonstrate clinical supervision skills.
10. Exhibit expertise in clinical assessment and decision making.
11. Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
12. Complete, review and present RADAR & 72 hour reviews as required.
13. Complete, review and share learning of clinical audits with senior leadership team and CRHT.
Managerial Responsibilities:
1. Provide effective leadership to the team.
2. Work closely with colleagues across the mental health care division.
3. Formulate and implement local clinical and operational practices and procedures as appropriate.
4. Ensure effective deployment of staff and resources to deliver the required service and standards.
5. Participate in recruitment and selection processes in accordance with Trust policy.
6. Ensure effective induction of staff in accordance with Trust policy.
7. Ensure exit interviews are offered to staff on leaving the organisation/moving teams within the Trust.
8. Manage and co-ordinate all services delivered to the service user within the clinical area.
9. Ensure implementation, monitoring and updating of operational policy/pathways for the clinical area.
10. Incorporate principles of Clinical Governance in service delivery.
11. Ensure care within the confines of Mental Health Act status and adhere to MHA 1983 and Code of Practice.
12. Ensure Trust policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all staff.
13. Develop local protocols with team members and acute trust.
14. Lead staff participation in formulating new ideas to improve service user care and delivery.
15. Participate in performance monitoring of services in accordance with national and local targets.
16. Provide statistical information on workforce and service user activity as required.
17. Assist in maintaining and updating team’s equipment inventories and service schedules.
18. Ensure effective communication processes are established and maintained.
19. Maintain and monitor a framework for risk management and Health and Safety.
20. Investigate complaints and incidents in accordance with Trust policy.
21. Undertake Serious Untoward Incident investigations/reviews as required.
22. Ensure staff are updated on emergency procedures.
23. Participate in multidisciplinary decision-making regarding patient care.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Lead the development of the Service and ensure high level of clinical leadership.
2. Provide specialist mental health screening assessments, including risk assessment and differential diagnosis.
3. Independently assess, plan and identify mental health needs.
4. Act in a consultative capacity as a specialist mental health clinician.
5. Support development of a skilled workforce, supporting junior staff.
6. Take an active role in education in line with key performance indicators.
7. Develop and maintain partnerships with statutory and voluntary agencies.
8. Manage clinical caseload effectively and autonomously.
9. Make unsupervised decisions regarding patient care.
10. Act in accordance with infection control policies.
11. Advise on manual transferring and mobilising of patients.
12. Give/receive regular clinical supervision as per Trust policy.
Communication and Organisational Responsibilities:
1. Engage in high level communication with Senior Management.
2. Coordinate multiple services to ensure appropriate discharges.
3. Deal effectively with confrontational and complex issues.
4. Adapt communication to account for others’ culture and background.
5. Maintain high standards of integrity when communicating with patients and the public.
Education and Development:
1. Organise and undertake ward-based teaching.
2. Support implementation of evidence-based practice.
3. Work closely with Education Facilitator for workforce planning.
4. Coordinate preceptorship and mentorship for staff.
5. Demonstrate application of knowledge in line with current research.
6. Promote a positive learning environment.
7. Provide evidence to support development around the Trust Appraisal system.
8. Participate in regular supervision and reflective practice.
Service Development:
1. Develop, implement and review liaison service operational policies.
2. Ensure outcome monitoring data is received by both Trusts.
3. Establish and review patient care pathways/protocols.
4. Manage allocated resources effectively.
5. Complete six-monthly statistical reviews of service activity.
Research Audit:
1. Ensure staff awareness of Clinical and Corporate Governance.
2. Participate in audit, quality assurance programmes and research.
