Position: Warehouse Operative
Location: Lingfield Point, Darlington, DL1 1AX
Pay: £12.95 per hour + £150 bonus, subject to criteria
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Monday - Friday, 6am-2pm
Start date: 28th April 2025
Contract Type: Temporary until approximately 22nd June 2025. This role could lead into longer term opportunities for the right candidate.
Do you want to be part of a huge, exciting and crucial project with Capita. This role will enable you to contribute to a behind the scenes annual project on behalf of the Standards Testing Agency. This project is vital to the processing of all Year 6 exam papers for primary school students.
Working within the Scanning and Guillotine department, the team are responsible for operating high-capacity machinery but they are two separate roles:
Guillotine staff are responsible for operating high capacity guillotine machines. No experience of operating a guillotine is required as full training will be provided to candidates. Activity includes loading/unloading the machine and general day-to-day cleaning/maintenance. This role is physically demanding and requires staff to be stood for long periods of time.
Scanners are responsible for operating high-volume processing scanners (IBML). No experience of operating a high-volume scanner is required as full training will be provided to candidates. Staff will be required to process a large number of paper documents loading onto the scanner for digitisation, checking image capture quality, unloading documents into an archive box and day-to-day cleaning and maintenance of the scanner. This role requires staff to be stood for long periods of time.
You will be required to demonstrate the following:
* Have a good level of understanding of written and spoken English
* Undertake manual handling activities and be comfortable standing for long period of time
* Have a basic level of computer literacy
* Follow strict Health and Safety procedures
* Excellent attention to detail
* Work in a fast-paced environment
* Work to strict deadlines to achieve required throughput
* Follow internal work instructions and processes to deliver services to the client

For hard work and dedication to the project, Capita are offering a bonus payment to all who meet the below criteria and are still in post at the end of the initial STA contract length (anyone released early will NOT be eligible):
£150 for 100% attendance.
£100 for between 95% - 99% attendance.
Training will be provided across 2 weeks from the 28th April 2025 working Monday to Friday, 6am to 12noon at a total of 5.5 hours per day, paid at £12.95. From the 13th May 2025 you will then be working full-time, Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm at a total of 7.5 hours per day. The training period will consist of basic mandatory PC training, site and role orientation. All applicants will be required to undertake some 'box making' activities during the training period and during any down time as needed.
