As the Head of Professional Practice and Standards for Nursing, you will have an opportunity to influence and drive professional nursing standards. You will have a key role to ensure that the Health Board complies with the Nurse Staffing Act.
This is a key role in the Corporate Nursing Team. In partnership with colleagues across all service areas and the Workforce and OD team, you will support the nursing workforce priorities.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of strategies and programmes to achieve and improve professional nursing standards, and will lead, support and/or implement nursing practice development agendas across Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) as directed by the Deputy Director of Nursing and Executive Director of Nursing, Quality, Women and Family Health.
The post holder will also be responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of a range of key proactive and reactive programmes and projects that facilitate implementation of evidence-based knowledge into practice and ensure the delivery of the Health Board's priorities for nursing. Working closely with Heads of Nursing, Senior Nurses and Clinical Education teams, the post holder will provide strategic input into discussions and decision-making regarding nurse education, training and workforce planning activities within the service areas.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Floor to Board nursing assurance of professional nursing standards, workforce and provision of nurse staffing, including Fundamentals of Care and the delivery of the All-Wales Nursing Retention Plan.
They will also work closely with and provide professional support to the Head of Clinical Education and Primary and Community Care Academy Manager to support the education and development needs of nursing and midwifery staff within the organisation, to include placement capacity and quality in clinical areas.
The successful post holder will focus on and lead the nursing workforce education and research and development plan that builds capability and allows sharing of best practice. Keep abreast of national and international best practice standards and develop implementation plans across PTHB to ensure care standards are always in line with best/national guidance.

* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
* Educated to master's level
* Evidence of engagement in leadership and managerial development

* Experience working at a senior nursing management level including investigation of complaints and incidents
