Contract: Fixed-term until 28th February 2026 / Full-Time
Job Purpose:
Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect in children, accounting for almost one third of congenital abnormalities diagnosed prenatally or in infancy. The original NI BabyHearts Study was conducted in 2014 to investigate possible common environmental risk and protective factors associated with CHD. This follow-up study will investigate the potential impact of preconceptional and antenatal environmental factors on the physical health, neurodevelopment, and academic achievement of children with Congenital Heart Disease, using the BabyHearts cohort aged 6-9 years. Findings will be used to inform clinical care and service provision, identify needs in the overall care package for children with CHD, inform preconceptional and antenatal advice to women, and public health policy, and add to the evidence base to improve outcomes for children with CHD.
The post holder will work closely with the research team to investigate this study cohort, including the recruitment of participants from the original cohort and assisting in the data collection process.
We may create a 12-month waiting list for same or similar roles within the Department / Faculty. The University reserves the right to extend the waiting list across the University if required for certain posts.
