Job Overview
We are recruiting for an outstanding Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team at the Dixie Grammar School. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our successful independent selective co-educational day school in rural Leicestershire in a part-time role (25 hours per week) for a fixed period of one year approximately. The quality of education at the Dixie has been continuously judged as excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate since 2015 and all staff play their part in our supportive and vibrant community.
This new role is initially a Fixed Term role for 12-months, but with the possibility it could be extended. It is designed to support the finance team through a busy period, including the introduction of VAT into the independent schools sector in 2025.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
* Several years experience working as part of a finance team.
* Worked on a variety of accounting systems and have the ability to pick up new software systems quickly.
* Previous experience of setting up and posting to ledgers, setting up supplier accounts and performing reconciliations.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Experience in working with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite products.
The following would be preferential but is not essential:
* Experience with preparing and submitting VAT returns.
* An accounting qualification.
The successful candidate will also be a good team player, flexible in their approach and be willing to learn our systems.
We offer a friendly and supportive working environment, complimentary lunches and staff remission on school fees. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a DBS check as the role is designated as a regulated activity. Salary range is £28,990 - £31,030, FTE, dependent upon experience and a 5% matched pension contribution on qualifying earnings.
The post is part-time and is 25 hours per week, for the whole year and can be worked over 4/5 days by mutual agreement.
