Role: Environment & Release Manager Location: Leeds Salary: DOE plus extensive benefits Contract type: Permanent Employment type: Full time Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday The Environment and Release Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management and coordination of aspects of IT environments and software releases within the organisation. This role involves ensuring the stability, reliability, and scalability of IT environments, as well as managing the end-to-end process of releasing new software updates and changes. The ideal candidate will have a significant technical background and excellent organisational skills. Ensure the environments are properly configured, secure, and aligned with the company's architectural standards. Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to determine the delivery approach, manage and guide the broader application deployment lifecycle and, optimise environment usage and performance. Monitor environment health and proactively address issues to prevent downtime and disruptions. Manage and schedule all end-to-end release activities, including planned development, rehearsals, and production implementation. Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third-party applications, or operating system updates. Develop and implement release plans, including risk management and rollback strategies. Assist with change control processes to ensure changes are documented, reviewed, and approved in line with company practices. Identify opportunities for process improvements in environment and release management. Develop and implement automation strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce manual efforts. Manage and report on risks, resolving issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality. Proactively identify potential and existing environmental issues to minimise disruption to testing and release timelines. Continually improve the release and environment provisioning processes through DevOps and automation principles, defining and maintaining effective, lean processes for managing releases. Who are we looking for? Full understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and ITIL frameworks. Proven experience with environment configuration, deployment automation tools, and version control systems. Programming Skills : Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, .net expertise and TypeScript. Source Control : Strong understanding of Git and Azure DevOps for version control, build, and deployment. Cloud & Containerization : Experience with Azure Cloud Platform and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes). CI/CD : Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD tools, and source control concepts. Proven track record of working collaboratively to meet deadlines in an Agile or Scrum environment. Good understanding and experience across a broad range of IT digital & CRM technologies and integrations e.g. Websites, Mobile Apps, Customer Data Platforms, APIs etc Experience of how to Agile and Waterfall test environments and release processes for both internal and third party technical releases What happens next?
