Description
This is a great opportunity for a driven and talented individual to make a real difference as part of a dedicated and professional team. The Fund Accountant will be responsible for supervising a small team of accountants, providing accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of clients for the Langham Hall jurisdictions.
The candidate will service the needs of the Langham Hall jurisdictions for a portfolio of private equity, real estate clients and associated SPVs, and will liaise with the finance teams of the funds, third parties (including auditors) and any other external advisors necessary to ensure all issues are resolved and deadlines are met.
In addition, the Fund Accountant will be involved in the take-on and setting-up of new clients coming in. There will be a number of interesting and varied ad hoc projects.
This is a position best suited to a commercial yet technically minded person, good experience in preparation of annual accounts, understanding transactions, good knowledge of consolidations and group accounts. An individual who is motivated by the challenge of providing technical and operational support to the Langham Hall jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
1. To provide accounting support for the Langham Hall jurisdictions accounting teams.
2. Support on the client relationships for the allocated portfolio. If applicable be the primary contact for clients with frequent contact and regular in-person client meetings.
3. Plan all deadlines and work allocations for the clients.
4. Production of monthly/quarterly NAVs.
5. Overseeing and preparation of consolidated reporting and financial statements, both at asset and fund level, including supporting files and review of work produced by team.
6. Preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS or UK GAAP.
7. Compile and analyse financial information underlying the financial statements, including the treatment of business transactions.
8. Assistance with preparation and/or review of bookkeeping and reporting from junior members of the team.
9. Implementing policies, procedures and checklists where necessary.
10. Bank debt covenant reporting.
11. Investor tax, CIS and VAT reporting.
12. Lead year end audits.
13. Organise take-on and set-up of new clients.
14. Work effectively with the senior members of the Accounting team to ensure smooth transition of new work into the business.
15. Ensuring all regulatory and statutory reporting deadlines and filings are achieved.
16. Responsible for team planning, monitoring deadlines and coaching and developing junior staff members.
As part of your duties all employees must ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures and meeting all personal AML obligations.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications:
1. The candidate will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent) qualified and have minimum 2 years' proven experience at FA level.
Skills and Experience/ Technical Knowledge
1. Strong technical accounting skills, ideally gained within real estate funds or an asset management environment.
2. A comprehensive understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS and other relevant accounting standards, and related preparation of statutory financial statements and auditor liaison.
3. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures manuals and performance measurement reports at asset and fund level.
4. Strong excel knowledge.
5. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations for which there may be little precedence.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Confident and proactive approach and professional attitude to work.
8. Highly organised with good time management and planning skills.
9. Experience in on-the-job training and leading team members.
10. A deep understanding of the agreements associated with private equity and real estate structures and interpretation of terms within including LPA, debt documentation, sale and purchase agreements, leases etc.
11. Knowledge of Sun Systems and/or Yardi is an advantage but not essential.
