Role Summary Established in 1913, The Rep has an unparalleled history as a pioneering repertory theatre and the launch-pad for some of the most exciting talent in UK theatre both past and present. Today it is a producing powerhouse with three auditoria - The House, 820 seats; The Studio, 300 seats; The Door, 150 seats - as well as extensive on-site production facilities. Under the Executive leadership of Rachael Thomas the theatre is in the midst of a process of significant renewal, with the vision of being a national and international centre for artistically ambitious popular theatre in all its forms: comedies, dramas, musicals, dance-theatre and family shows. Revivals, new work and commissions will play in all three theatres. Many of its productions already go on to enjoy future life through commercial transfers and national/international tours. The Sound and Video department look after all sound and video at the Rep, working alongside Sound and Video designers. Alongside our full time team we maintain a pool of casual staff to accommodate the changing requirements of productions here at the Rep. We are always interested to hear from people with the right skills and an enthusiasm for making theatre. Casual Sound and Video Technicians take on a varied mix of work ranging from assisting with load-ins and load-outs, to operating smaller scale shows in the Door and Studio, on-stage Sound 2 work, department maintenance, supporting R&D sessions and rehearsals. Main Duties and Responsibilities Assist full time, freelance, and visiting production staff, maintaining high production values throughout Liaise with creative teams, ensuring a high standard of delivery Work alongside other departments collaboratively Ensure excellent customer service is maintained at all times Ensure a high standard of housekeeping in performing areas, technical areas, storage areas, and off site storage Work safely, following professional standards at all times This role may include working flexibly across other technical departments if required This role may require occasionally working away from Birmingham Specific Responsibilities Operate sound and video for shows and events Install and configure sound and video systems to supplied specification Install and configure comms, cuelights, and cctv equipment to supplied specification Maintain technical equipment, both reactive and proactively Undertake periodic inspections of workspaces and equipment Support the successful delivery of audio-described, signed, captioned, and relaxed performances Undertake tasks and projects as specified by senior technical staff General Responsibilities Adhere to and implement the guidelines, procedures and policies of the company as detailed in the staff policies. Enhanced rate available for additional duties including Duty Technician. Pay rate of £12.71 per hour for enhanced duties, e.g. Duty Technician.
