Job Reference: JH-CD-SFCC10 Job Title: Support Worker Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum) Hours: 6 hours per week Hourly Rate of Pay: £11.50 Based at: Employer's own home in Red Lodge, Suffolk and out in the local community. Job Purpose The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a 7 year old boy with severe autism, severe food aversion and sensory processing disorder. The child lives at home with his family. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support his with all his needs. The child loves outdoor activities, loves running and jumping and also likes a cuddle. Main duties: To support with: Personal care e.g. washing, dressing and changing nappies. Constant supervision is required at all times. Support with all safety aspects, the child has no awareness road safety / safety awareness. To be a social friendly companion to the child. To support with sensory play, music, cuddling, jumping etc. Support and attend days out to trampoline parks, swimming, for example. Very active little boy so needs to have support at all times. To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys. Supervising the child at meal times. To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required. Personal Specification Flexible in the hours and times that you can work. Experience with caring for children is essential and experience with autism. Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke. You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. You should have knowledge and understanding of risks. Be patient and supportive.
