Job Details: Community Support Volunteer
Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.
Community Support Volunteer
Location: 7 North Park Road, Harrogate HG1 5PD
The Crossroads Diversion Scheme offers a trauma-informed scheme intended to address underlying causes of offending, by offering support to individuals that are at risk of entering the criminal justice system and first-time entrants. Engagement with the Crossroads Scheme is on a voluntary basis. Each individual receives a tailored support package, the intensiveness of which will be responsive to their needs. They are allocated a key worker who will provide direct interventions, advocate, and signpost into specialist agencies where necessary.
About the role...
This role is based in Harrogate and will involve travel to the Harrogate office and local organisations and user groups. Travel may also be required around York and Craven.
Tasks will include:
* Supporting Monthly EDI meetings
* Helping staff to take forward any ideas/actions discussed in meetings for improved EDI activities
* Maintaining an annual calendar of EDI events and supporting staff to plan and carry out events in house, online and in local community
* To support the service and staff team to obtain feedback from all individuals who have used our services
* To provide a routine telephone follow up following feedback and completion of service from all individuals who have used our services
* To support a presence at local EDI groups and events which will include local women’s group, women’s outreach/community bus, further opportunities to be explored
* To promote Crossroads service whilst supporting EDI events and activities
* Offer extra support for clients where needed with EDI, such as supporting attendance at EDI/events/groups with them
* Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) plays a huge role in ensuring we are properly supporting our service users, staff and everyone in contact with the service
