The Head of Digital is a senior management role responsible for overseeing all aspects of BACP’s digital and technical capabilities and infrastructure. This role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight to ensure BACP’s technology, systems, and digital platforms effectively support organisational objectives, operational needs, and the business plan. The role includes responsibility for the organisation’s technology strategy, architecture, managing supplier relationships, and driving innovation across five key areas: internal IT, data and security, enterprise systems, CRM, and the website. The Head of Digital also requires strong commercial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, evaluate technology investments, and negotiate with third-party suppliers, software companies, and agencies to ensure value for money and alignment with organisational goals. Ensuring that BACPS’s strategies remain aligned with both its mission and the evolving landscape of mental health and counselling. Strategic Management Develop and deliver a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with BACP’s operational needs, organisational objectives, and business plan. Act as a strategic partner across senior leadership, collaborating with peers and stakeholders to identify business requirements and priorities. Provide leadership and direction to digital and IT teams, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable outcomes. Oversee budgets for digital and IT initiatives, ensuring financial accountability and maximising return on investment. Internal IT & Network Services Ensure reliable and secure IT services for all employees, both office-based and remote, supporting hybrid working models. Oversee the enabling technology and infrastructure required to ensure operational effectiveness and staff productivity. Lead the development and maintenance of IT hardware, software, and network services. Data and Security Ensure robust measures are in place to protect data held by BACP, safeguarding against cyber threats and breaches. Oversee compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and implement data governance frameworks. Educate staff on best practices in data handling and cybersecurity. Enterprise Systems Evaluate, implement, and maintain enterprise systems that support BACP’s daily operations, ensuring they meet organisational and operational needs. Drive operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for innovation and integrating systems seamlessly. Collaborate with departments to identify and implement technology solutions that enhance performance and service delivery. CRM (MS Dynamics) Provide strategic oversight of BACP’s CRM platform, Microsoft Dynamics, ensuring it supports core business processes and drives member engagement. Ensure the CRM system is operationally effective, supported, and continuously developed to meet evolving needs. Manage CRM enhancements to improve workflows and user experiences. Oversee integration of CRM with other enterprise systems and digital platforms. Website Own the BACP website, including its strategy, development, optimisation, and roadmap. Work with Member Services, Marketing & Engagement and other stakeholders to ensure content requirements and delivery are supported aligned and supported. Ensure the website aligns with organisational objectives, delivers excellent user experiences, and supports member engagement. Oversee website performance, including SEO, security, and compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG). Manage relationships with web development agencies to implement enhancements effectively. Collaboration with Third Parties Build and maintain strong relationships with external software companies, agencies, and technology partners to support digital initiatives. Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and alignment with organisational needs. Oversee the performance of third-party suppliers, holding them accountable for quality, timelines, and value delivery. Commercial Acumen Evaluate and prioritise technology investments to maximise ROI and operational impact. Develop and manage budgets for digital and IT projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with strategic priorities. Identify and capitalise on opportunities to improve efficiency and generate value for the organisation through technology. Knowledge & experience: Significant, proven experience in a senior management role within digital, IT, or technology management. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, CRM platforms (preferably MS Dynamics), and website management. Extensive experience working with third-party suppliers, software companies, and agencies, including contract negotiation and performance management. Demonstrated commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, evaluating technology investments, and delivering cost-effective solutions. Strong understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and cybersecurity best practices. Experience in developing and delivering coordinated digital strategies that align with business objectives and operational needs. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation. Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision with immediate operational delivery. Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to manage competing and complex priorities. Familiarity with web development technologies and frameworks. Knowledge of agile and/or waterfall project management methodologies desirable,
