About The Role The Junior Automation Engineer supports the design,implementation, and maintenance of automation systems within the food andbeverage manufacturing environment. This role focuses on optimizing productionprocesses, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and reducing downtime.The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement automationsolutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and quality. Key Responsibilities: Automation System Support: Assist in programming, testing, and maintaining automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and HMI interfaces. Collaborate with senior engineers to address technical challenges and troubleshoot automation issues. Assist production and maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving automation-related issues efficiently to minimize downtime. Routine Maintenance & System Health: Perform routine maintenance on automation systems to ensure optimal performance and prevent unexpected failures. Regularly conduct health checks on automation systems, identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact production. Schedule and manage backups for critical automation system data to ensure data integrity and recovery in case of failure. Ensure antivirus and cybersecurity protocols are up-to-date to protect automation systems from external threats. Critical Spares & Spares Obsolescence: Identify and maintain a list of critical spares for automation systems, ensuring they are readily available to minimize downtime. Monitor and manage spares obsolescence, proactively replacing outdated or discontinued components to avoid production disruptions. Project Assistance: Participate in the commissioning and integration of new automated equipment. Support the installation and testing of automation upgrades to existing machinery. Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze the performance of automation systems to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop reports and documentation on system performance, maintenance activities, and operational changes. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all automation activities comply with health, safety, and food safety regulations. Support adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other industry standards. Collaboration and Learning: Work with production, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to align automation solutions with business objectives. Stay updated on emerging automation technologies and apply new knowledge to practical scenarios. About You QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIFIC TRAINING • HNC/HND in Automation, Electrical Engineering or related field. EXPERIENCE • Proven experience in engineering within the Food & Beverage or FMCG industry. • Experience in maintenance and programming of PLC’s (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider), SCADA/HMI systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus). KNOWLEDGE • Familiarity with robotics and vision systems. • Knowledge of data acquisition and reporting tools. • Understanding of control panel design and electrical schematics. • Understanding of OT network security. • Competence in instrumentation and sensors (temperature, pressure, flow, etc.) SKILLS • Strong Problem-solving and analytical skills. • Management of change abilities. • Ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders. • Proficient in creating and maintaining comprehensive system documentation.
