Location: Pulteney Centre, Wick, Scotland Salary: circa £55,000 (depending on experience) Contract: Full Time and Permanent Pulteney Town People’s Project was set up by the community in and around Wick in 2002. The charity has the general aim of contributing to the quality of life of the people of Pulteneytown and the wider area by expanding their horizons through the provision of accessible community projects to support health and financial wellbeing. In 2012, it opened the Pulteney Centre which is now a bustling hub, hosting a whole range of community activities. These have been introduced and developed in close consultation with the local community as the guiding principle for PPP is “for the community, by the community.” It offers services to the whole community, from cradle to grave. This includes nursery provision, Homelink which support vulnerable people in their homes in a variety of ways, housing support, a community café and rooms for hire. A recent consultation established the community’s primary requests are: Support for the cost of living Social activity, fitness and Mental Health Improving the environment and access to recycling to reduce litter and waste The environment and, therefore, needs of the community keep changing and this requires agile leadership. PPP is looking for its next Chief Executive to take on this mantle. You will need to have significant experience in a similar role, for a similarly sized organisation(£1million turnover projected for 2025/26). You should be able to evidence competency in running a multi service organisation and site with strong commercial skills and entrepreneurial approach. You will need to be deeply committed to community led services and, preferably, have experience in facilitating this discussion. As with any organisation, income generation is a significant challenge, and you will need to have the creativity, tenacity and determination to support PPP to be financially stable and meet the needs of the community. This is also an externally facing role with lots of external engagement with partners, funders and stakeholders. You should demonstrate the engagement skills required to be an effective communicator for a whole range of audiences. We’re interested in candidates from all backgrounds, provided they have the required skills. A knowledge of the health and social care sector is highly desirable. You need not be an existing CEO but have extensive senior leadership experience and ready to take a step up.
