A Technical Sales Engineer with experience of selling bespoke automation solutions is required for an established, and well respected systems integrator/manufacturer in the West Midlands.
The company works across several sectors including medical, automotive, defence and general engineering, designing world class automation to fulfil the needs of its customers. The key responsibility for the sales manager is to proactively identify prospective customers and to generate leads and sales by offering a professional solution, backed up by a strong engineering team. The systems may include; robots, pneumatics, conveyors, vision systems, used in automated assembly, packaging, machine tending, inspection, ultrasonic welding etc.
Responsibilities:
1. Proactively search and identify new prospective customers.
2. Liaise with past customers to reestablish communication and open up new leads and opportunities.
3. Listen to their requirement and discuss potential solutions to build trust and credibility.
4. Observe other possible solutions as you walk around the customers shop floor and identify other areas which may benefit from automation.
5. Obtain specifications and RFQs from customers, and work with engineering to devise a solution.
6. Present and negotiate the proposals with customers.
7. Generate sales orders.
Qualifications:
1. Proven background in solution selling.
2. Good knowledge of engineering, ideally bespoke automation or machinery.
3. Experienced sales professional happy with cold calling and developing leads and enquiries.
4. Experienced with selling solutions with fairly long lead times.
5. Good negotiator.
6. Happy to work from a home office with weekly site meetings.
7. Qualification in engineering is desirable but not essential.
