Paralegal
We are now looking for a Paralegal to join our fantastic Residential Property team based out of one of our Midlands offices. The team handles a fantastic range of residential work from sales and purchases of freehold and leasehold property for first and second time buyers through to more complex property transactions for those seeking to add to their property portfolios.
This role will support the team on the above work and would be a fantastic role for someone with conveyancing experience already and looking to work closely with some fantastic lawyers on really interesting residential property work. This role would suit someone who has worked within residential property and could be a Legal Secretary or Assistant but certainly someone who has experience and therefore be able to hit the ground running. It can be based out of any of our West Midlands or Worcestershire offices.
Responsibilities include:
* Confident in progressing matters by supporting fee earners with residential property transactions from instruction to completion for both freehold and leasehold properties.
* Experience of Infotrack, Case Management Systems, Laserforms and the Land Registry and SDLT Portals are desirable but full training will be provided.
* Dealing with initial onboarding of clients including reviewing AML and ID documents.
* Preparing, drafting and issuing contract packs and any supporting legal documents.
* Progression of sale files including receiving enquiries raised, liaising with clients and third parties in connection with those enquiries and replying to the enquiries in a timely manner.
* Conducting property searches and drafting and issuing completion statements.
* Dealing with exchange of contracts in a timely manner.
* All post exchange work, setting sales and purchases up for completion and completing transactions.
* Managing post-completion formalities, including SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.
* Adhering to file closing process including distribution of surplus funds as and where applicable.
* Corresponding with clients, third parties and agents via telephone/written correspondence and, at times, in person.
* General supportive duties as assigned by the fee earner you will be supporting.
* Maintaining case files and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements at all times.
