Job Overview:
Claire at Amber Mace is working with a leading care provider in the West Midlands who are recruiting for a deputy care manager to join the team at one of their residential services in Coventry. The Deputy Care Manager will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring high standards of care, and leading a dedicated team of staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader with strong management skills and a passion for providing exceptional care to older adults.
Responsibilities:
1. Support the Registered Manager in overseeing the day-to-day management of the residential home.
2. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of carers and support staff, ensuring they are motivated, well-trained, and delivering person-centred care.
3. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, safeguarding policies, and health & safety protocols.
4. Assist in developing and implementing care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, ensuring the highest level of care and dignity.
5. Monitor and assess the quality of care provided, regularly reviewing care plans and making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
6. Oversee the management of resident records, including accurate documentation of assessments, care plans, and other required paperwork.
7. Build strong relationships with residents, families, and external professionals, ensuring effective communication and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
8. Participate in recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
9. Lead and assist in emergency procedures and crisis management when necessary.
10. Assist in managing the home’s budget and resources, ensuring efficient use of staffing and materials.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Proven experience in a care management role, with a strong understanding of elderly care needs and best practices.
2. Previous experience as a Deputy Care Manager, Senior Carer, or similar role within a residential care setting is highly desirable.
3. Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and lead a team effectively.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to make decisions and address challenges head-on.
5. In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Care Act, CQC regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
6. A proactive and compassionate approach to managing and improving care services.
7. A good understanding of budgeting and resource management.
8. NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or working towards).
9. A valid DBS check and compliance with safeguarding policies are required.
