Job information Post No. POSN004305 - Detached Youth Worker Newport Youth and Play Service offers a range of provisions for children and young people aged 5-25 and consists of a talented and enthusiastic team of professional youth and play workers who operate across the city. This set up consists of play and youth clubs, one to one and project work that all provide a wide variety of creative opportunities and experiences that encourage the participation and development of children and young people in communities. The Youth and Play Service promotes a strong connection between targeted and universal work that ensures there is a consistent offer of support to children and young people when they need it. An exciting opportunity has become available within the Youth and Play Service for a Detached Youth Worker. You will be part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team who work with young people aged 10 - 25 with a range of needs within the locality. The aim of your role will involve establishing contact with young people using a variety of methods to engage them in youth work programmes, services, and activities. You will have experience of delivering innovative, up to date and current Youth Work activities and programmes designed with and for young people within a Detached Youth Work offer across the City. You will have experience of playing a defined leadership role within a team, planning, delivering and evaluating youth work programmes with young people and staff. You will have an awareness of agencies delivering services for young people and an understanding of the ‘neighbourhood’ in which you work. This post is fixed term until 31st March 2026 pending further funding.
