We have a number of roles available within school and are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and caring Grade 1 teaching assistants to fill these roles.
This role is on a casual basis where you will be called to work in school when the need arises. This may be short notice. Some children may at times require an adapted curriculum and provision to best support their needs. As a result, there may be occasions where work will be completed outside of class, making best use of our outdoor spaces and/or personalised activities in a quiet space. Due to the nature of the role, experience of special educational needs would be an advantage; however, this is also an exciting opportunity for anyone with a passion and natural aptitude for supporting children with additional needs as any necessary training will be provided for the successful candidates.
We are looking for someone with:
1. A passion for working with children with SEND.
2. A willingness to encourage children to reach their full potential.
3. Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and the ability to use this knowledge to support a child/children.
4. The ability to develop positive relationships with children.
5. A resilient and nurturing personality.
6. The best interests of children at the centre of their practice.
7. The ability to think on their feet.
8. Experience of leading interventions to support children.
9. The ability to develop positive relationships with staff and parents.
10. A willingness to develop their understanding of special needs and strategies to support children.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting individual and/or groups of pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
2. Working with a named child at key points to maximise progress for the pupil.
3. Working with groups of pupils as required.
4. Understanding My Plan targets and long-term outcomes for a group of children and/or your named child.
5. Taking an active role in the assess, plan, do, review cycle.
6. Supporting at playtimes and lunchtimes during unstructured play.
7. Liaising with SENCO and outside agencies.
